Getting Power Monitoring Data To The Desktop
Connectivity is the key to any solution delivering important power management information throughout your plant. Rockwell Automation has different communications options to meet your networking priorities including speed, redundancy, electrical isolation, ease of wiring, or utilization of existing network cabling.
Consider the following communications advantages of the solutions from PEMS:
- Open Networks — PEMS builds its products on open networking platforms including Ethernet, DeviceNet, MODBUS RTU and ControlNet. Using open networks allows our customers to leverage the best available technology and connect devices without worrying about longevity or support.
- Direct-Connect Ethernet — Our power monitors are designed with standard Ethernet ports onboard. Data is transferred through dualport RAM from the main processor to the communications card and on to the network. The transmission speed is never hindered by a slow serial interface.
- Web-based Applications — By using web-browser technology embedded on our power monitor's Ethernet cards and in our RSEnergyMetrix software, we utilize existing LAN infrastructures and common web-browser client software. This reduces your installation costs, removing the need to purchase networking gateways or software licenses for each potential user.
- Third-Party Connectivity — We understand that energy information can come from many sources. PEMS provides networking solutions that move and merge data from various plant networks and present an integrated view to the user.
