Product Design

The 1799 Embedded I/O printed circuit board assemblies can be embedded into a machine, mounted directly to a panel, mounted on a DIN rail, or mounted in an enclosure. Optional hardware is available to suit equipment packaging and mounting needs. Each card offers either 20, 24, or 32 digital I/O circuits (24V dc). Inputs are universal NEMA type 1+. Outputs are available as either 0.5 A sinking or sourcing. Embedded I/O also features LED indicators for diagnostics.

Each I/O card has a built-in 24V dc input power supply and built-in DeviceNet adapter. The DeviceNet network provides power to the Embedded I/O card. Inputs and outputs are powered by an external 24V dc source, which is independent of the network.

1799 Embedded I/O is compatible with PLC®, SLC™, ControlLogix™, or SoftLogix™ programmable controllers using DeviceNet scanners.

DeviceLogix Smart Component Technology

Optional DeviceLogix™ technology lets you use the status of local inputs along with network inputs, and network and module status bits to control both local and network outputs. DeviceLogix allows for quick response, reduced network traffic, and a smaller control program. Use the Function Block editor in RSNetWorx™ for DeviceNet (v3.0 and higher) to create DeviceLogix programs of up to 48 function blocks, or 144 function blocks with 1799 Zone Control I/O cards.

Zone Control I/O Cards

The 1799 Zone Control I/O (ZCIO) cards incorporate Zone Interlocking Parameters (ZIP) technology. DeviceLogix™ allows for quick response, reduced network traffic and a smaller control program. One ZCIO card can consume data directly from up to four other ZCIO cards without hard-wiring or the use of a scanner. These direct communications between conveyor zones are beneficial in a merge or divert application such as high-speed sortation. ZCIO cards (Series B) increase the DeviceLogix memory to 144 function blocks.
