PicoGFX Controllers
The Allen-Bradley PicoGFX controller performs simple logic, timing, counting, and real-time clock operations. For enhanced functionality and performance, the PicoGFX controller adds the use of a graphic display while offering advanced programming features like PID control, a high speed counter, and Boolean sequences. Since Pico controllers function as a timing relay and low-end PLC, they are ideal for relay replacement applications where simple control applications are necessary (building, HVAC, and parking lot lighting) and applications in which cost is a primary design issue. The PicoGFX controllers were designed with ease-of-use in mind. All programming and data adjustments can be done via the on-board keypad and display, or with Allen-Bradley PicoSoft Pro configuration software.
Benefits
- Small Size—The PicoGFX controller has a small footprint to reduce panel space and system cost.
- Simplicity—Simple ladder logic can be programmed with the on-board keypad and PicoSoft Pro programming software.
- Flexibility—Choose from two processors (one with and one without communications), four I/O blocks (relay or transistor out combined with or without analog out options). Choose from 120/240V AC or 24V DC versions.
- Modularity—The PicoGFX controller is easily fitted using two standard 22.5 mm drill holes. The components for the power supply and the optional inputs/outputs simply snap on the back of the display.
- Economy—PicoGFX controllers give you the option of using a controller and HMI in one simple to use package. PicoSoft Pro is used to program the ladder logic and graphic display. The PicoGFX system proves to be a valuable package, with expansion capabilities, 24 hour clocks, HSC, and the ability to perform simple math functions.
- Graphic Display—Import your own logo or any other bitmap into the pre-existing FREE library of bitmaps included with PicoSoft Pro. Display bitmaps, date, time, text, and more with the 70 mm screen. Choose one of the ten available menu languages for on-board menu navigation.
- Intelligent—You can: display text with variables, enter setpoint values, use 7-day and 52-week counters, output manipulated values as pulse-width modulated signals, trace the flow of a current in a circuit and so much more.
Product Design
PicoGFX controllers can be either DIN-rail or panel mounted, or mounted directly on your machine. The PicoGFX controller allows for the display to be on the outside of your panel and the processor and I/O housed inside the panel. Additional product features include:

- Input Instructions—examine-on and examine-off
- FREE bitmap library; enjoy the use of over 1000 bitmaps
- Import your own logo and/or artwork that you want to display
- Use up to ten different languages
- The screen editor allows users to align, group and move graphical objects
- Project printout function allows you to output all visualization and circuit diagram details
- NEW simulation function allows users to simulate your program without the requirement of having the controller attached to the PC
- Assign NET IDs to the Pico-Link network
PicoSoft Pro is a user-friendly and intuitive application. It allows you to create, save, simulate, document, and transfer PicoGFX circuit diagrams and display information to an operational PicoGFX controller. PicoSoft Pro also enables you to activate a status display of the running circuit diagram as well as display the parameters of all function relays used. Program with your choice of the following formats: device, IE, or ANSIO/CSA. Along with the use of ladder logic as the programming language, PicoSoft Pro now uses tags for enhanced programming needs such as, Boolean expressions and PID control.
Using PicoSoft Pro Programming Software
