Remote Termination Panels and Cables



The 1771 N-series analog I/O modules and some other 1771-series modules require remote termination panels (RTPs) for I/O connections. These modules have no connections for wiring arms. Instead, they provide one or two D-shell connectors for cable connection to one or two D-shell connectors at the RTP. Cable assemblies are available in lengths of 1.8m (6 ft) or 4.6m (15 ft).

The RTPs mount on asymmetrical #1 or symmetrical #3 DIN rails. An RTP provides connection points between the cable assembly on the I/O module side and the individual wires on the customer side. An RTP can also provide optional fuses/resistors.

An RTP configuration can reduce installation costs by eliminating wiring between a wiring arm and a terminal strip inside of the enclosure. With an RTP configuration, an I/O module can be replaced without disturbing a current loop.
