InView™ Message Displays
Communication Options
InView message displays offer the most extensive communication options in the industry. Whether you are connecting to an Allen-Bradley controller, third party controller, or PC-based system, InView has a solution. InView displays come standard with RS-232 and RS-485 communications for quick and easy integration. For applications requiring industrial or commercial networks, InView communication modules can be used to integrate your display into new and existing networks.

(1) Rockwell Automation recommends using a third party DIN rail mounted Ethernet TCP/IP solution with the InView P22R panel mount display. Lantronixs and Digi both supply a DIN rail Ethernet TCP/IP solution for connectivity to a personal computer.
Controller-Based Communications
- Point-to-Point RS-232 serial — supports serial communication from a single controller to a single InView display with a limited distance of 50 feet.
- Multi-drop RS-485 serial — supports serial communications from a single controller to multiple InView displays using an AIC+ module (RS-232 to RS-485 converter).
- Industrial networks — allow InView communication with controllers over DeviceNet, ControlNet, EtherNet/IP, Data Highway Plus, DH-485, and Remote I/O using the communication modules.
PC-Based Communications
- Ethernet TCP/IP — allows InView display integration into information systems and supervisory control PC-based systems. It can make use of an existing office network to communicate information to the entire factory.
- Point-to-point RS-232 serial — PC-based communication using InView Messaging Software, Instant Messenger, or ActiveX control in RSView32.
- Multi-drop RS-485 serial — supports serial communications from a single PC to multiple InView displays using an AIC+ module (RS-232 to RS-485 converter).
