Self-Monitoring™ Contact Blocks Enhance E-Stop Reliability - A Rockwell Automation Exclusive

Proper contact block installation is critical to ensure that the normally closed contacts will open when the E-Stop is actuated. Separation of the contact blocks from the E-Stop operator will prevent the E-Stop from shutting down the controlled process in an emergency. The following dangerous scenarios could result in contact block separation:

• Contact block or latch is incorrectly assembled to the E-Stop operator.
• Contact block or latch is accidentally damaged during maintenance.
• Contact block or latch is removed during maintenance and not reinstalled.

The self-monitoring contact block eliminates these separation concerns by actually monitoring its own installation. If the self monitoring contact blocks are separated from the E-Stop operators for any reason, they will open the circuit and the process will shut down.
