About Flash Update
SMC-Flex products use flash memory to store their firmware. Flash allows the firmware to be field-updateable without replacing chips. A flash update is performed by:
The flash updates distributed on this web site include a copy of ControlFLASH. You can then use ControlFLASH, DriveExplorer or HyperTerminal to perform the flash update.

Firmware Requirements
The communications modules listed below have minimum firmware revision requirements for ControFLASH or DriveExplorer flash. All other communications support ControlFLASH and DriveExplorer flash beginning with the first firmware release. All communications modules can be flash updated using HyperTerminal regardless of their firmware revision.
