Automatic Glue Applier
In this glue dispensing system, a 1394 Motion Control System with caming capability provides the motion control. A bead of dispensed material is continuously applied to components that are aligned in a fixture. One axis of the 1394 system provides the master motion by indexing the glueing platform in both directions as the other axis follows using cam profiles to create a continuous pattern of glue on one row of individual parts, then advances to the next row if required, and so on. The positions of the master (table) and the follower (dispensing head) are synchronized and locked to each other for any given point on the cam profile. This relationship is very useful for machines that perform repetitive operations. The smooth speed transitions of the cam profile, which is executed for each piece part, results in uniform and consistent application of the dispensed material.
