Package Sorter (Lane Diverter)

In this application, an ULTRA 100 servo drive with indexing is used to control the position of a set of guides. Based on the status of sensors that detect the height of boxes passing by on the first conveyor, the guides are moved to direct the various sizes of boxes onto the appropriate conveyor.

The box size sensors, A, B, and C select the position of the guides. Sensor D, which is activated by all box sizes, turns on shortly after A, B, and C are activated. Sensor D is the "Start Index" sensor. When the drive receives the "start index" signal, it moves the guides to the position determined by the A, B, and C sensors.
