Bulletin 22ZC Zone Controller

Nearly all accumulation conveyor control systems require a sensor, actuating device, and zone control logic. This is typically achieved through the use of mechanical switches and pneumatic valves connected to a PLC programmed with zone control logic. The Bulletin 22ZC zone controller is a revolutionary new alternative that is compatible with a wide variety of sensors—mechanical to photoelectric—as well as with either pneumatic or powered roller actuators.

The 22ZC zone controller does not require the complex programming tools used by an embedded I/O or PLC system. Selection of either powered roller or pneumatic conveyor systems along with other advanced logic functions can be made with a single DIP switch.

The heart of the 22ZC system is the zone control module. One module is mounted in every zone of the conveyor system and connected to the modules in other zones via a flat cable. This allows peer to peer communication between zones, enabling smooth handling of material along the entire conveyor. Each module accepts a sensor input and provides an output to an actuator (pneumatic valve or powered roller driver card) based on the desired zone control logic for the application. This logic includes both standard and advanced zone control functions, which can be configured by the user without the need for any programming tools. Functions include:

  • Singulation and slug release modes
  • Selectable sleep and jam detect functions, ON and OFF time delays
  • Selectable inverted output (N.O. or N.C. output)
