Bulletin 873P Ultrasonic Sensors
The Bulletin 873P family is a new line of ultrasonic sensors
designed for non-contact sensing of solid and liquid objects.
Both standard and programmable models are housed in 18mm
or 30mm PBT plastic barrels that meet IP67 enclosure standards.
Offered in three sensing ranges from 100mm up to 2500mm,
the standard sensor models are available in three output
styles: discrete (normally open, PNP), analog current (4-20mA),
or analog voltage (0-10V DC). Discrete models have a potentiometer
that is used to adjust the far limit of the sensing range
such that the sensor will ignore background targets—a
function also known as “
background suppression.”
Available with sensing ranges from 150mm up to 3500mm,
the programmable 873P models are configured through the use
of
a setup pushbutton at the rear of the housing. These sensors
have two programmable setpoints with sourcing (PNP) discrete
outputs and an analog output. The discrete outputs can
be set for either normally open or normally closed operation.
The analog output is either 4-20mA or 0-10V DC (depending
on model) with the slope automatically scaled between
the programmed setpoints. Both the standard and programmable
models feature:
- Short circuit, overload, false pulse, transient noise
and
reverse polarity protection
- cULus listed and CE marked
for all applicable directives
Target applications for the 873P include distance measurement,
roll diameter measurement, web tension, broken
web detection, level control (hoppers, tanks, sumps), and
part detection,
but 873P ultrasonic sensors are suitable for a
wide
variety of applications. Typical industries include
automotive, material handling, packaging and food processing.
