Allen-Bradley proximity sensors set the standard for ruggedness, reliability and application flexibility. Choose from one of the industry’s widest selections of inductive, capacitive and ultrasonic proximity sensor models, all of which offer you no-touch object detection.

The most commonly-used proximity sensor is the inductive type, which generates an electromagnetic field to sense metal objects passing close to its face. This is usually the easiest sensing technology to apply in applications where the metal object to be detected is within an inch or two of the sensor face. The diverse Allen-Bradley offering serves the full spectrum of customer needs, from light-duty packaging applications to the punishing environments on automotive welding equipment or the harsh washdowns in food processing plants.

Bulletin 871TM Inductive Proximity Sensors

Historically, the metalworking, food processing and material handling industries have been tough on sensors. Whether your application is in one of these industries or in another where the conditions are just as difficult, the Bulletin 871TM has been designed for you. It keeps you competitive by helping to keep production up and running.

  • Stainless steel face and barrel for high strength
  • Available with abrasion resistant, fire retardant ToughLink™ cable that exceeds SOOW-A requirements
  • 1200psi (8270kPa) washdown capability for contaminant and fluid ingress resistance
  • Electrical protections against short circuits, overload, transient noise, false pulses and reverse polarity (DC models) to help reduce downtime and maintenance costs
  • Extended range models allow greater distance between sensor and target, reducing the likelihood of damage from collision

Bulletin 872C and 872CP WorldProx™ Inductive Proximity Sensors

The international marketplace is changing, demanding greater productivity, efficiency and reliability than ever before. Allen-Bradley WorldProx inductive proximity sensors can help you meet those demands. These general-purpose solid-state devices feature either a nickel-plated brass housing with a plastic face (872C) or an all-plastic face and barrel (872CP) at an economical price. And because they are both UL and c-UL listed as well as CE marked for applicable directives, you can count on wide-ranging acceptance in many global markets.

  • Built using advanced manufacturing techniques for lower cost, to help you stay competitive
  • 360°-viewable output indicators for easy operation and maintenance
  • Electrical protections against short circuits, overload, transient noise, false pulses and reverse polarity (DC models) to help reduce downtime and maintenance costs
  • Four connection options plus a wide range of barrel sizes (from 6.5mm to 30mm) for application flexibility

Bulletin 871P – VersaCube™

Long-range sensing, versatility and durability are all hallmarks of these special sensors. With sensing ranges of up to 40mm for general purpose models and 35mm for ToughWeld weldfield immune models, they provide great application flexibility. Certain models are now available with our ToughCoat Finish for improved weld slag resistance.

A unique five-way mount makes them easier to mount and adjust than any comparable sensor—all in a rugged, durable housing.

Bulletin 871F – Flat Pack

When your application demands long-range metal sensing, the 871F family of flat pack style sensors are a solid choice. Engineered for enhanced toughness and flexibility, the latest flat pack offers one of the longest sensing distances in the industry. This increased sensing distance reduces target-tosensor collisions by allowing the sensor to be mounted at a safer distance from the target area. The durable one-piece housing provides superior resistance to the elements thanks to a redesigned mechanical seal, rugged shroud construction and full epoxy encapsulation. Superior LED visibility and complementary outputs on standard models add even more appeal to this feature-rich inductive proximity sensor. Weld-field immune models also available.

ToughWeld Bulletin 871ZC – Weld-Field Immune Copper Barrel

Bulletin 871ZC inductive proximity sensors are designed for automotive welding applications and other environments where large magnetic fields are present. The rugged copper barrel resists chipping and wear, which helps avoid the weld slag accumulation that can cause other sensors to fail or lock on. Shielded models are now available with our ToughCoat Finish on the sensor face for improved weld slag resistance. The 871ZC 3-wire DC is available in 12, 18 and 30mm shielded and unshielded housings with a micro quick-disconnect connector. The 871ZC 2-wire AC/DC is offered in 12, 18 and 30mm shielded configurations in micro and mini quick-disconnect styles.

ToughWeld Bulletin 871Z – Weld-Field Immune PTFE-Coated Barrel

The Bulletin 871Z inductive proximity sensor provides a weld-field immune solution for both AC/DC and 3-wire DC applications. Its PTFE-coated housing resists weld slag while its specialized circuitry provides immunity to magnetic-field strengths exceeding 20,000A at 1 inch from the welding tip.
