Description
The drive heatsink cooling fan may cease to function properly. The plastic impellar fan blades are welded incorrectly to the hub side of the fan. The blades may separate from the main hub assembly.

If the plastic fan blades separate from the main hub assembly, an unbalanced condition can occur. This can lead to elevated vibration when the fan spins or a loss of cooling (because the fan blades break off) that can cause a Heatsink OverTemp fault.

Temporary Workarounds

None.

Correction
The product anomaly has been corrected in the following revisions of the PowerFlex 700 NEMA 12 AC Drive and NEMA 12 Fan Spare-part Kits:

  • All drives (of noted catalog string) manufactured after August 1, 2008.
  • All NEMA 12 Fan Spare Part Kits, catalog number SK-G9-FAN3-F6
