Product Identification

PowerFlex 700 and PowerFlex 700S AC Drives, 75-150Hp@600V and 45-132Kw@690V, identified by catalog numbers that begin:

PowerFlex 700 and PowerFlex 700S Precharge Board Spare-part Kits SK-G9-PRE1-V600 and SK-G9-PRE-V600-MX3. (component part number: 394877-A03 Revision 7 and earlier or 336150-A03)

The shipment date of the product is between September 2006 and August 28, 2008. The catalog number and the manufacture date are shown on the drive nameplate.

Identification of the printed circuit board assembly is shown below.

- Issue Description -
The PowerFlex 700 and PowerFlex 700S Precharge Printed Circuit Board has resistors that do not meet the power surge rating. Premature fatigue of the resistor can occur and cause the drive to lose power or not power up. Normally this anomaly occurs during start-up or early in the service life.

PowerFlex 700 and PowerFlex 700S AC Drives and Precharge Printed Circuit Boards with part number 394877-A03 revision 7 (non-conformal-coated circuit board) or earlier and part number 336150-A03 (conformal coated-circuit board) are at risk.

- Temporary Workarounds -
There is no temporary workaround available for this anomaly.

- Issue Correction -
PowerFlex 700 and PowerFlex 700S AC Drives, 600/690V with Frames 5 and 6, and Precharge Board Spare-part Kits:

• All drives manufactured beginning August 28, 2008
• Precharge Board Spare-part kits SK-G9-PRE2-V600 and SK-G9-PR2-V600-MX3

You must replace the Precharge Printed Circuit Board. The replacement Precharge Printed Circuit Board is available in Spare-part Kit SK-G9-PRE2-V600 (non-conformal-coated circuit board) or SK-G9-PR2-V600-MX3 (conformal-coated circuit board). The installation instructions are included in the kit, publication RA-IN012.
