Product Advisories: PF700S Phase II ALL Firmware version 1.11 and Earlier

Problem Description
With the Power Flex 700S Phase II, Version 1.11 and earlier, hereafter referred to as PF700S Phase II, the following functional issue exists:
Functional Issue
Functional issues of the PF700S Phase II may result in unexpected behavior during power up.
Drives that are originally configured to have a 20 Comm., Synch Link and/or Drive Logix modules when inoperative may initialize floating points with a one; the drive may produce rated torque or run at rated speed when a “Start” command is issued.
Or after a power cycle of the PF700S and a “Start” command is issued no torque is produced but the drive may indicate it is running.

Product affected by this Mandatory Product Safety Alert includes Version 1.11 and earlier of PF700S Phase II with the following catalog numbers:
- 20D XXXXXXXXXXXXXE *
- 20D XXXXXXXXXXXXXK *
- 20D XXXXXXXXXXXXXL *
* Replace X with the appropriate catalog entry info for a given drive. The 17 th character is identified above.
Problem Correction
- The functional issue described above is corrected in version 1.12 of PF700S Phase II which has been released in September of 2004.
- Attached to this notification are specific instructions on how to install version 1.12 of PF700S Phase II. See “Version 1.12 Firmware Upgrade for PowerFlex 700S Drives with Phase II Control”.
Requested Customer Action
- Each notified customer should take the following actions:
- Please read this Product Safety Alert and perform the required immediate action.
- Confirm that they have the affected products.
- Immediately contact their local Rockwell Automation Sales and Support office to determine the appropriate course of action. Together, the local office and customer will determine the correction for their situation.
