Ref: ACIG 2007-08-001 Rev. 1
Date: August, 2007
Re-Issued Date: December, 2007

-Issue Description-

With the RSLOGIX 5000 SOFTWARE, VERSION 16.00.00 and Logix5000 Firmware, Version 16 and, hereafter referred to as version 16, the following functional issues exist:
Functional Issue – Creating a Large Rung (with many instructions) on One Workstation May Cause an Empty Rung to Be Created on Another Workstation or Session of RSLogix 5000 Software (RSLogix 5000 Software Issue) With two or more instances of RSLogix 5000 software running online to the same controller, it is possible to create or edit a large rung for one of the instances and have the rung be uploaded and displayed as an empty e-rung on the other instance. It does not matter if the two or more instances of RSLogix 5000 software are running on the same workstation or two or more different workstations. This functional issue occurs in Remote Run mode upon assembling or finalizing the creation or edit of a rung. The controller still contains the correct rung, but the risk is that an operator seeing the empty rung on the other instance will delete that rung and will at that point have unknowingly deleted a valid rung in the controller. This rung deletion could occur hours or days after the original rung edit.

Functional Issue – Add-On Instructions Yield Unexpected Results (Logix 5000 Firmware Issue)

  • When calling an Add-on-Instruction, if the data types of the tags passed into or out of the instruction do not match the parameter definitions, unexpected behavior can result.
  • Inside of the logic of an Add-on-Instruction, reading a tag of type INT could yield incorrect results.

-Temporary Workaround-

Functional Issue – Creating a Large Rung (with many instructions) on One Workstation May Cause an Empty Rung to Be Created on Another Workstation or Session of RSLogix 5000 Software (RSLogix 5000 Software Issue). To get the workstation to re-upload that rung, follow these steps.

  1. Take the workstation offline.
  2. Close the project, and reopen it.
  3. Examine the offline project to see if the e-rung exists. If the e-rung exists, then this project has lost the rung changes (most likely because of a project save) and you should not go online to the controller. A full upload is necessary. If the e-rung does not exist, then you should go back online with the controller. Going back online, uploads any changes in the controller and correctly uploads the rung changes.

Functional Issue – Add-On Instructions Yield Unexpected Results (Logix5000 Firmware Issue)

  • Insure each tag you pass into an out of an Add-on-Instruction is the same data type as the parameter you are passing it to.
  • Avoid using INT data type tags inside of an Add-on-Instruction (this applies to parameters and local tags).
