The purpose of this letter is to inform you of a potential functional issue with the PowerFlex 700 AC drives when alternate languages are selected (Any language except English).
Identified shipments include
PowerFlex 700 AC drives with Version 1.007 software. Affected units were shipped between May 16, 2002 and June 26, 2002.
Problem Description
It has been determined that all PowerFlex 700 AC drives with version 1.007 software have mislabeled parameter selections in alternate languages (any language other than English). No action is required if only English will be used. If an alternate language is selected, parameters with a list of choices have their choice descriptions swapped resulting in users to making incorrect selections. For example: in parameter 90 [Speed Ref A Sel], selection #11 should have "Preset Spd1" for it's description but instead it reads "Preset Spd3". The default values of the drive are correct but changing selections may cause operational issues.
Product Identification
This Product Service Advisory affects all PowerFlex 700 AC drives with version 1.007 software only. These were manufactured and shipped between to May 16, 2002 and June 26, 2002. These affected units will have the following product catalog numbers:

The software version number as well as the date of manufacture is printed on the drive's box as well as on the drive's data nameplate. See pictorial of a label from a drive box below.
Requested Customer Action
- Each notified customer should perform the following actions:
- Read the Product Service Advisory.
- Confirm that they have the affected product.
- No action is required if the drives are used with the English language. If an alternate language will be used, please contact your Allen Bradley distributor for a drive exchange.
