Product Advisories: PowerFlex 700 AC Drive, Series B, Catalog Number "20BxxxxxxxxxxxCx" or "20BxxxxxxxxxxxDx", Firmware Revision 4.003
PSA: CPAG 2006-05-002

Issue Description
With the PowerFlex 700 AC Drive, catalog number “20BxxxxxxxxxxCx” or “20BxxxxxxxxxxxDx”, Series B, Firmware Revision 4.003, hereafter referred to as PowerFlex 700, the following functional issue exists:

Functional Issue – HIM Copycat issue

  • It has been determined that a anomaly occurs when using the HIM copycat function to upload parameters from a drive with firmware v.4.003 and the parameter list includes multiple parameters that have changed from their default value. When the parameter list is then downloaded to a drive, there may be parameters that are reset to their default value. The number of changed parameters that cause the anomaly to occur varies depending on which parameters are changed and whether the parameters are consecutive or not. The parameters that are affected during the download also vary, again depending on which parameters have been changed.
  • The anomaly can be avoided by using alternate means of downloading or setting drive parameters (such as Drive Executive or Drive Explorer). The anomaly can also be avoided by using a different version of drive firmware.
  • If a HIM copycat function is performed with firmware version 4.003, any subsequent download of that parameter file may have parameters whose values are reset to default without the user’s knowledge.

Temporary Workarounds
The user may enter the parameters manually or use Drive Executive or Drive Explorer to set and download parameter files. THIS WORKAROUND IS TEMPORARY AND SHOULD ONLY BE USED UNTIL THE POWERFLEX 700 DRIVE CAN BE UPGRADED TO FIRMWARE VERSION 4.004 or greater.
