Application Guidelines
Series Software

Last Revision - February 6, 1999

The APPLICATION GUIDELINES and TECHNICAL REFERENCE is a software series consisting of technical information and interactive software programs covering many topics associated with AFDs, ac motors, and application issues. The program is called APPLY.EXE.

The programs, APPLY.EXE, AFD.EXE, ACMTR.EXE, LOADS.EXE, PWRQUAL.EXE and support files VB40016.DLL and OC25.DLL are contained within the self extracting zipped file called ACTOOLS.EXE. When run, this self extracting file will extract the program files and create a directory called C:\Techref. To operate APPLY.EXE as an application bookshelf, the other programs must be located in that same directory. (See Note 1)

The individual programs are listed below. These programs are kept up to date on a regular basis. They can be downloaded individually and run to get the latest version. Each file is a self extracting zipped file. When run, they will extract the program to the directory C:\Techref. They will automatically overwrite any older version of the program kept in that directory.

APPLY_.EXE

APPLY.EXE is the "Bookshelf"portion of the application guideline program. It is used to connect to the individual "Books" located in the other programs.

ACMTR_.EXE

ACMTR.EXE is the "Book" about the ac motor. It contains information about the ac motor for fixed and variable speed operation.

AFD_.EXE

AFD.EXE is the "Book" about the adjustable frequency drives. It contains information about the different types of AFDs and the characteristics of the AFDs.

LOADS_.EXE

LOADS.EXE is the "Book" about applications and different load type. It contains information about application considerations and characteristics of different types of loads.

PWRQUAL_.EXE

PWRQUAL.EXE is the "Book" about power quality and harmonics. It contains information about power quality and harmonics.

Note 1
These programs require VB40016.DLL and OC25.DLL in order to operate. You may have a copy of these files in your Windows System directory. If you do not, you can obtain a copy downloading ACTOOLS_.EXE. After downloading, you can load VB40016.DLL and OC25.DLL into your C:\Windows\System directory. You can also obtain these files from the following website: Traknet.softseek.com

If you chose to download ACTOOLS.EXE, you will have to run the file to extract the programs. The default directory for extraction is C:\Techref. You can select a directory of your choice when the self extracting zipped file is run, however, all programs must be in directory C:\Techref in order to be called by the "Bookshelf program" APPLY.EXE.. After you have extracted the files, you can use the Program Manager to create a group and item icons. Instructions about how to use this program will be presented when you run the program. These programs requires Windows 3.1 or better. These programs were designed to operate with a screen resolution of 800 x 600. Higher resolutions may result in misaligned graphics and controls. The programs appear to operate properly with Windows 95.
