Fault Number : 63

Fault Display : Shear Pin

Fault Name : Shear Pin

Fault Type : 3 - User Configurable

Fault Description : Programmed [Current Lmt Val] has been exceeded.

Corrective Action : This fault can be enabled / disabled by using [Fault Config 1] parameter bit 4. This means that an excessive load has been seen by the motor. This fault may occur if parameter 148 [Current Lmt Val] is set too low. This parameter is only active when parameter 147 [Current Lmt Sel] is set to option number 0 (Cur Lim Val) which is the default setting. Default setting for parameter 148 [Current Lmt Val] is drive rated amperage times 1.5. This parameter may be set lower, to detect a load on the motor, and stop the drive from having the motor put out too much torque, and breaking shear pins.

If using a Powerflex 70 EC, then parameter 189 [shear pin time] must be set to a value other than 0.00 for this fault to occur. A setting of 0.00 will disable this feature on the Powerflex 70 EC.
