Drives Service & Support
The following is the firmware flash procedure for the PowerFlex 70 drive. This procedure is a walkthrough that will include using RSLinx as well as DriveExplorer for flashing the drive. If you know the hardware requirements and hookup procedure, you may continue directly to the RSLinx or DriveExplorer software procedure.
Equipment Necessary:
- PowerFlex 70 drive
- 1203-SSS Anacanda with firmware of atleast 3.004
- 1201 SCANport Cable (Anacanda to drive)
- 1203-SFC Cable (Serial to SCANport)
- Controlflash Kit (Download on Web Updates site)
- Computer with Serial port
- RSLinx or DriveExplorer software
Hardware hook up procedure:
- Plug the DPI connector on the 1201 SCANport cable into the bottom of the drive.
- Plug the other end of the 1201 SCANport cable into the 1203-SSS.
- Plug the DPI connector on the 1203-SFC cable into the 1203-SSS.
- Plug the Serial connector on the 1203-SFC cable into the serial connector on the computer.

- Open the software you are going to be using to flash your drive. It can be either RSLinx or DriveExplorer. We will cover both of those software packages below. RSLinx will be first, DriveExplorer will be further down on the page.
- Procede to the RSLinx or DriveExplorer software procedure.
